We share this common anniversary with the Church of England .The Church of England's use of the 1662 was a revision of Thomas Cranmer's 1549 version of the first English Prayer Book. The 1662 Book of Common Prayer is what the First General Convention of the Protestant Episcopal Church of the United States based our first 1789 Book of Common Prayer on and most of it is the same as the 1662 English Book of Common Prayer.  Reference.
